Dear brothers and sisters, today we will talk about an extremely important topic – spiritual gifts and their use in the church. In the Bible, we find many instructions on how each of us can use our gifts for the glory of God and in service to others.
1 Corinthians 12:4-7 states:
This passage clearly explains that we have all received different gifts from the Holy Spirit with one purpose – to encourage and serve one another in our community.“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
Each spiritual gift has its unique function in the body of Christ. Some have received the gift of teaching, others the gift of healing, prophecy, or showing mercy. But together, we form one body, where each member plays an important role.
The Scriptures urge us to use these gifts, not hiding them, but rather acting with faith and courage. In Romans 12:6-8 it is written:
Here we are reminded that it is important not just to have a gift, but to actively express it in our lives.“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
Our service program should be shaped based on the grace given to us by God. Moreover, we must maintain unity in the church, as all gifts are gifts from the same Spirit. Ephesians 4:11-12 tells us:
Thus, we must support one another in fulfilling God’s plan in its fullness.“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
Therefore, I urge you to seek, discover, and use your spiritual gifts in service. May our church be a place where every member can find their calling, grow in faith, and serve others in love.
And remember, everything we do should be done with a sincere heart and for the glory of the Lord. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us:
May your spiritual gifts bear fruit and help you grow in the message of Jesus Christ!“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
